2023 Election: Ezekwesili Reveals Reason For Damaged Trust In INEC

Former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has declared, ‘It’s never over until it’s over’ as Nigerian youths commemorate the third anniversary of the #EndSARS protests.

Naija News recall that in October 2020, a public outcry for an end to police brutality, extrajudicial killings, extortion and abuse of power, especially by the officers of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), kicked off.

The protest, which started peacefully, led to the disbandment of SARS by the federal government of Nigeria.

However, the protest was stopped on October 20 when officers of the Nigerian Army shot at the protesters, killing and injuring many protesters.

In a post via X on Friday, Ezekwesili called for the remembrance of those who paid the supreme price in 2020 while demanding a well-governed country.

She wrote: “How can we ever forget 20-10-20?

“A historic Day when the young of our Land discovered and began to collectively live out the deep words of Franz Fanon that:

“Each generation must, out of relative obscurity, discover its mission, fulfill it, or betray it.

“On this 3rd memorial, we must never forget the heroics who were killed, maimed and tortured just because they dared to stand and demand for a well-governed country that respects their constitutional rights.

“We must never forget the ones who have continued to stand on, having discovered their mission are daily paying the cost that it will take to fulfill it. It is never over until it is over.”
