Coach Jose Peseiro of the Super Eagles has criticized his players for losing their concentration against ten-man Mozambique.

On Monday, the Super Eagles of Nigeria faced lowly-rated Mozambique in an international friendly in Portugal which ended in a 3-2 win in favour of coach Jose Peseiro’s men.

Mozambique took the lead before the Super Eagles overtook them with three first-half goals. Fortunately for the Eagles Mozambique’s player, Edmilson Dove, was red-carded before the end of the first half.

Despite that, the Super Eagles found themselves struggling to maintain their lead in the second half as Mozambique got one goal back before the game ended.

In reaction to how the game panned out, coach Jose Peseiro lambasted his players for their poor passing, crossing, and goalscoring abilities.

According to the Portuguese tactician, his players took the game with levity and should have beaten the East African side with at least 8 goals.

“First of all, I’m happy that after 15 friendly matches, we finally got a win for the first time in four years,” coach Jose Peseiro said.

“I think we deserved much more from this game (against Mozambique). It was easy playing against 10 men but when we were 3-1 up, I didn’t like the performance in the second half. We commanded the game but we lost concentration at some point. We played better than this result.

“We were better than this team (Mozambique). I think my players felt it was easy. I’m not happy with the performance of the players.

“We didn’t manage the game well we had too many poor passes, poor crosses, and poor finishing which I don’t like.

“We should have scored more goals, we created so many chances to score say eight goals. We played better than this performance my players need to stay more concentration.”
