APC Reacts As Oppostion Knocks US Secretary Of State For Calling Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the Bayelsa State governorship election campaign flag-off ahead of the November 11 polls.

Naija News reports that the governorship campaign flag-off that was slated to be held on Saturday (today) was shifted by the party on Friday night.

The development comes after a Federal High Court in Abuja sacked the APC governorship candidate for Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, on the account that he has been sworn in twice as governor of the state, and should he be left to contest and won, there would be a constitutional breach.

Despite his sack, the APC, who vowed to appeal and described it as a minor setback, was bent on going ahead with the campaign.

The APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, while reacting to the court’s ruling, said campaigns would proceed, and the court’s verdict would not hinder anything.

However, on Friday night, the party’s national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, announced the postponement of the Bayelsa state governorship campaign, saying a new date would be communicated in due course.

The statement reads in part, “APC announces the postponement of the Bayelsa State governorship campaign flag-off scheduled to be held on Saturday, 14th October 2023, in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. A new date will be communicated in due course.”

However, the reason for the shift in the event was not communicated in the statement.

It would, however, be recalled that the party has flagged off the campaign for the governorship election in Kogi and Imo also ahead of the November 11 governorship polls in the states.
