Reactions have trailed the arrest of Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, over the death of one of his former signees, Ilerioluwa Aloba, professionally known as MohBad.

Naija News reports that Naira Marley was arrested by the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) upon his return to the country on Tuesday night.

The Lagos Police command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday night.

“Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities,” Hundeyin noted on his X (former Twitter) account late Tuesday.

Naija News understands that Naira Marley is expected to assist the police in their investigation into the demise of MohBad, which has generated mixed reactions on and off social media.

Naira Marley had earlier vowed to clear his name and had, before the police statement, confirmed his arrival in Nigeria to help the probe into his former signee’s demise.

Reacting to the development, some netizens took to social media to express their views and opinions on the arrest of the singer.

“What is wrong with people? There must be a crime before someone can be arrested and taken to court for fake charges, a baby lawyer will not accept naira marley to spend a single night at the police station as there is no evidence of a crime.
