Three Passengers Die As Truck Rams Into Tricycle In Ogun

The Motor Vehicle Administration Office (MVAO) has come out to give reasons responsible for the increased rate of accidents during the ember months, Naija News reports.

The Head of Operations of the Motor Vehicle Administration Office in Cross River State, Akak Eyo, revealed that there are more accidents during the ember months, that is, from September to December, because drivers throw away caution during this period for the sake of money.

Eyo explained to the Cross River State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists that during this period, drivers are always in a hurry to convey passengers traveling home for the festivities, and so in other to make more sales, they throw all cautions away.

The Cross River State MVAO head of operation said it was because of this that the agency had slated 10 October to commence this year’s Ember Months campaign in the state, themed Safety First-Drive to Survive.

He said, “Ember Months is one period drivers become restless, and throw caution into the air because they want to make money.

“If you are using the road, this information is for you, we are sending this message of safety across so that our roads will be safe. If you obey all the rules, you will find driving a very sweet experience.”
