Alexis Beka Beka, who is currently contracted to French Ligue 1 club, OGC Nice, almost ended it all because his girlfriend, Carla, allegedly broke up with him.

While his teammates were preparing for their French Ligue 1 game against Brest at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, Alexis Beka Beka was busy contemplating killing himself over a heartbreak.

The 22-year-old Congolese-born French player finally located a 100-meter Magnan Viaduct in Nice, where he attempted to jump from.

While his action disrupted traffic at the route, a combined team consisting of an OGC Nice psychologist, emergency services, firemen, and the military, succeeded in persuading him to abort his suicide attempt.

Beka is currently safe and is being taken care of by the French Ligue 1 club, who are currently sitting second on the league table.

A statement from OGC Nice reads in part: “Above all, we are relieved that everything ended well today (Friday, September 29) for Alexis. He was taken care of.” We will continue to respect medical confidentiality, and we ask everyone to do the same and respect their privacy.

“We are in support, as well as that of the entire club”.

Beka joined OGC Nice from Lokomotiv Moscow on August 1, 2022, for a transfer fee worth €12 million. Since then, the French midfielder has managed to make 22 appearances and has scored one goal.

So far this season, Beka, who plays mostly as a defensive midfielder, has not made any appearance for OGC Nice. His contract with the French club will expire on June 30, 2027.
