Gombe United have completed an electrocardiogram (ECG) scan on each of their players ahead of the commencement of the 2023-2024 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Gombe United are expected to travel to Lagos this weekend to take on Sporting Lagos in the 2023-2024 NPFL matchweek 1 encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Ahead of the game, the Savannah Scorpions medical staff and the team doctors were on hand at the specialist hospital in Gombe to complete the ECG scan and test on every player, both new signings and old members of the team.

According to the NHS, an ECG is a simple test that can be used to check one’s heart’s rhythm and electrical activity.

The club’s general manager, Abubakar Abubakar-Yellow, commended the medical staff for being proactive throughout the medical process.

“It is paramount for the club to conduct this test and scan on all our players as the new football season begins this weekend, we need to know the health conditions of our players because it’s our number one priority, we need and must take care of our players medically”, he said.

“This ECG San and test is also part of the CAF Club Licensing and we have well-qualified medical staff in the team under the leadership of Dr Danladi Gambo.”

Abubakar-Yellow who was recently reappointed by the Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, assured fans of a good outing this season.

Note that the last time Gombe United were involved in a competitive match was on May 21 when Akwa United defeated them 0-1 in a home league game.

They will return to competitive action for the first time in four months on Saturday, September 30, against Sporting Lagos. The kickoff time for the game is yet to be determined.
