Some All Progressives Congress (APC) loyalists in Ondo state have described the appointment of Victor Kolade Akinjo into the board and management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as a big slap on them, especially as he campaigned vigorously against President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 election.

Naija News recalls that President Tinubu disbanded the NDDC board inaugurated by former President Muhammadu Buhari and appointed new members on Tuesday.

The Ondo State slot was given to a former member of the House of Representatives, Victor Akinjo, a PDP member who lost his third term bid to an APC candidate in the last election.

However, some concerned members of the APC have expressed displeasure over the development, saying the party is ignoring those who worked tirelessly for Tinubu.

An APC member, who lamented the situation, cited a video where Akinjo mocked Tinubu over his inability to hold a paper and read properly after his victory at the APC primary election, stressing he had some paralysis.

The party member, in an interview with PM News, said, “This is the message he was spreading across the length and breath of our federal constituency and to now reward such action with an appointment such as this is indeed a slap on the face of those who worked to tirelessly to ensure the emergence of our president.”

A source, who also spoke anonymously, said Akinjo was nominated by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and got the stamp of approval of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
