The mother of Spanish FA President, Luis Rubiales, has been discharged from the hospital where she was admitted after embarking on a hunger strike over her son’s kiss scandal.

Rubiales’ mother, identified as Angeles Bejar, got to the hospital on Wednesday, barely three days after she locked herself in a church to protest against the handling of her son.

Recall that the Spanish Football Federation President had been suspended by FIFA on Saturday and has been under fire for kissing Jenni Hermoso of Spain on the lips after the World Cup final.

Hermoso claimed that the incident that took place on August 20 during the award ceremony in Sydney was against her consent.

Bejar told Spanish news agency EFE as she entered the Divina Pastora church in Motril on Spain’s southern coast on Monday that the strike would continue “indefinitely, day and night.”

She said, “My son does not deserve the inhuman and bloody hunt that they are doing with him.”

She was moved to a hospital in Motril on Wednesday, according to Father Antonio, a local priest who spoke to Reuters.

“She had not been feeling well because of the heat and everything else,” the priest said.

“Her feet had become swollen and she was very tired. She had also become very anxious.”

Bejar was discharged from the hospital after doing well in rehabilitation, according to EFE. Her embattled son reportedly led her out of the hospital.
