Gov Alia Swears In 40 Commissioners, Special Advisers

Three months after assuming duty as the democratically elected Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, on Tuesday (today), swore in 17 Commissioners and 23 Special Advisers.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony at the new banquet hall of the government house in Makurdi earlier today, the governor charged the forty appointees to uphold the interest of the state, as their appointment is not political.

Governor Alia urged his cabinet to be kind and generous to the Benue people and prove themselves in their given assignments.

Addressing the commissioners, the state leader urged them to sustain efforts by the government to improve the living standards of the people and ensure the tempo of economic development he has started in the state.

“You should approach your assignment with courage, determination and resilience,” Daily Post quoted the governor as saying.

The Commissioners sworn in include Joyce Luga – Cooperatives Omale Omale -Power & Transport, Dr. Yanmar M. Ortese, Health, Rev. Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, Education & Knowledge Economy, Ugwu Odoh- Environment & Water Resources, Kwaghba Amande – Matthew Aboh and Tiza Imojime- Works & Housing amongst others.

In a speech on behalf of the Commissioners and Special Advisers, Rev. Frederick Kyan said they will be dedicated to their duty and be effective in their assignments.
