Niger Republic: President Tinubu Receives US Special Envoy In Aso Rock (Photos)

President Bola Tinubu, on Saturday, received the United States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Mary Phee, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Naija News reports that Phee met with President Tinubu to discuss US support for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and regional leaders in the Niger crisis response.

Phee stressed the United States’ support for the position adopted by ECOWAS in defending democracy and constitutional order in West Africa and stated the common objectives of preserving Niger’s hard-won democracy.

The US.official also called for the immediate release and recovery of President Mohamed Bazoum, his family and members of his unjustly detained government.

The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Saturday, played host to a delegation of top federal government officials led by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

The delegation also included the Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru, Defence (State), Bello Matawalle, Minister of State (Gas) Ekperipe Ekpo, as well as the Minister of State, Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri.

Also on the delegation was the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) limited, Mele Kyari, as well as a host of top military brass.

Governor Fubara disclosed that during the meeting, critical national issues relating to oil assets and investments were discussed.
