The Guardian: After almost two weeks of a standoff between coup plotters in the Niger Republic, and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), both parties are now ready to dialogue. Immediately after the military ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, on July 26, West African leaders, and indeed world leaders, condemned the usurpation of constitutional rule in the West African country and called for its restoration.


ThisDay: The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has called for the implementation of a special investigative panel’s report on oil theft and losses, submitted to the federal government on March 28, 2023


The Nation: A delegation of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) yesterday launched into a last ditch meeting with the coupists in Niger Republic to stave off the planned military intervention in that country by ECOWAS. The delegation which was led by former Nigeria military head of state,General Abdulsalami Abubakar met with the junta leader, General Abdourahamane Tchiani


Daily Trust: General Abdourahamane Tchiani, leader of the Niger junta, has said the army will hand over power to the civilian government within the next three years. He stated this in a televised broadcast on Saturday night.
