The Super Falcons of Nigeria have returned to training at the Lions FC Stadium in Australia after enjoying a two-day off ahead of their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup round of 16 clash with England.

While the Super Falcons drew 0-0 with the Republic of Ireland to finish second in Group B and qualify for the round of 16, England thrashed China 6-1 in their last group game to finish top of Group D and book a date with Nigeria in the next round.

At 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 7, the Three Lionesses and the Super Falcons will clash in Brisbane, Australia for the quarter-finals ticket. This will be their second meeting at the World Cup. Their first meeting at the tournament was on July 23, 2002, which ended in a 3-2 defeat to Nigeria.

However, the Super Falcons have defeated England in two friendly games in the past – 1-0 on July 23, 2002, and 3-0 on April 22, 2004.

While most football fans in Nigeria anticipate Falcons and Lionesses’ second clash at the World Cup, the Nigerian side took advantage of their two days off to go sightseeing and engage in recovery drills.
