Seun, Yeni Kuti Pay Tribute To Fela 26 Years After Death

Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti has taken to social media to pay tribute to his father Fela Anikulapo-Kuti on the 26th memorial of his death.

The 40-year-old said in a message posted on Instagram on Wednesday that yesterday was hard but today is better.

“Eleeeeeeniyaaaaaaaaaaaan!!! October 15 1938- August 2 1997. Yesterday was hard, today is better!!! Love you always,” Seun wrote.

Yeni, the first child of the Afrobeat legend also led her siblings in tribute to their father on the 26th memorial of his death.

The 62-year-old dancer, singer and broadcaster posted her tribute on social media on Wednesday.

Sharing a carousel of pictures showing Fela, his mum Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, brother, Prof Olikoye Ransome-Kuti and others, Yeni Kuti wrote “The many faces of Fela! August 2nd 1997. We shall never forget. Fela as a young man, Fela as a guy wearing earrings, with JK his best friend, with Uncle Koye.”

Fela’s other children are Femi Kuti, Kunle Kuti, Shalewa Kuti, Motunrayo Kuti and the late Sola Kuti.

Fela  died of AIDS on August 2, 1997 at the age of 58.
