Premier League club, Nottingham Forest are considering signing Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi who is reportedly interested in leaving the relegated Leicester City this summer.

According to The Telegraph, Nottingham Forest’s first priority is to sign a new defensive midfielder, and Forest are willing to break their transfer record to do so.

PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Sangare is the club’s first choice, although he has a £32 million release clause and is being targeted by bigger teams like Paris Saint-Germain. Tyler Adams of Leeds and Ndidi are also Forest’s top targets.

The contract between Leicester City and Ndidi will expire on June 30, 2024 which means that the Championship side would want to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free next summer.

The 26-year-old Nigeria international has played 192 Premier League games for Leicester City before they were relegated last season and he is experienced enough to get into Nottingham Forest’s starting lineup next summer if he moves to the club this summer.

Forest coach, Steve Cooper avoided relegation last season and is hoping to avoid it again this season with shrewd recruitment throughout the transfer window.

The Tricky Trees have recently signed Super Eagles right-back Ola Aina and Swedish attacker Anthony Elanga, and they are looking to add a defensive midfielder, a left defender, and a goalkeeper before the current transfer window closes.
