In an effort to bolster the ongoing passport reform process, the acting Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Caroline Adepoju, has approved the immediate reshuffling of 15 passport officers.

Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, Kenneth Kure, who serves as the Acting Public Relations Officer, announced the development in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday.

Adepoju expressed the NIS management’s commitment to improving passport administration both within Nigeria and at its foreign missions.

She reassured that the service would not deviate from its promise to transform passport offices across the board into service-centric units.

Among the affected passport offices are Alausa and Festac, both located in Lagos, as well as offices in Edo, Anambra, Bayelsa, Kogi, Nassarawa, Plateau, Enugu, Abia, Kano, Taraba, and Ondo, among others.

Adepoju added that from now on, only the best personnel who embody the principle of ‘service above self’ would be appointed to key positions. “This is so because our people deserve nothing short of the best,” she said.

The order for the new postings was signed by the Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) in charge of Human Resources, Mr Usman Babangida.
