Ten Die, Others Injured In Tragic Accident In Kwara Community

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara State Command, has confirmed the death of ten people in a tragic accident that happened on Friday in the Moro Local Government Area of the state.

It was reported that three vehicles were involved in the auto crash that occurred today on the Bode Saadu-Jebba highway.

In a statement made available to journalists, the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Frederick Ade Ogidan, said seventeen people were involved in the multiple auto crashes, but seven males, one female, and two female children died in the incident.

Ogidan explained that the accident happened at Ilupupa village at about 06.30 hours. According to him, about N60,750 in cash was recovered at the scene of the crash.

The FRSC official blamed the accident on wrongful overtaking and overspeeding.

The vehicles involved in the crash were a Green coloured private Volkswagen Sharan car registered AKD 733FX, a private gold-coloured car registered GWA 22DD, driven by one Oladokun Waheed, and a white coloured commercial vehicle registered DTS 139XA owned by Darmarna Petroleum Ltd, Naija News learnt.

Ogidan also noted that the corpses had been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital mortuary, Ilorin, while the injured were taken to Shalom Hospital, Bode Saadu.

The police from Jebba Divisional Police Station took custody of the vehicles involved in the auto crash, he said, while advising motorists to be cautious of the way they speed and overtake.

According to Ogidan, FRSC will commence another round of enforcement on speed violations and overloading from Monday next week.

“The safety corps cannot tolerate a situation where 10 lives are lost in a single auto crash,” he added.
