Serbian center-midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić could be the next big European superstar to move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

According to Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, a Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal have reached a verbal agreement with Italian Serie A club, Lazio to sign the 28-year-old Serbia international.

The Italian Serie A club has accepted Al Hilal’s €40 Million offer verbally but the Saudi Pro League side are yet to officially submit the bid via documents.

Also, Sergej Milinković-Savić is yet to give his green light to the deal even though the two clubs involved have reached a verbal agreement on the transfer deal.

This means that the success or failure of the deal now lies in the hands of Milinković-Savić who still has until June 30, 2024, before his current contract expires.

In an interview with Tg24, the president of Lazio, Claudio Lotito, was asked about the future of Milinković-Savić and if he would join the Saudi Pro League club, the Italian businessman revealed that the player has requested a transfer.

He said, “Milinković Savić has asked me to leave the club, he only wants to leave. Ask him if he’s going to Saudi…”

“Al Hilal? We’re waiting for formal and official documents. Deal is done when documents are signed. The proposal is below €50m”.

Sergej Milinković-Savić joined Lazio on August 6, 2015, from Belgian club KRC Genk for a transfer fee worth €12 million. Since then, the Serbian midfielder has played 341 times in which he scored 69 goals and provided 59 assists.

Since he made his international debut on November 10, 2017, the midfielder has played 43 times and scored 7 goals.

Based on his current form and age, 28, he might want to join a club in Europe this summer instead of moving to Saudi Arabia. But if the offer is enticing enough, he might make the switch in line with the desire of Lazio.
