Breaking: Gov Makinde Elevates Olubadan High Chiefs To Kings (Video)

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Friday, elevated members of the Olubadan in Council who were high chiefs to the position of kings.

The event took place at the Mapo Hall in Ibadan, and had in attendance a multitude of esteemed dignitaries, including traditional rulers from neighboring towns and states across the Southwest region.

The move will see the high chiefs who are members of the Olubadan advisory council wear beaded crowns, while the Ibadan paramount ruler, Oba Lekan Balogun, will henceforth be accorded the title of Royal Majesty.

Recall that Governor Makinde had previously approved the promotion of former Governor Rashidi Ladoja alongside ten other Ibadan High Chiefs to beaded crown Obas.

The Governor had recently signed the Chieftaincy Amendment Bill into law seeking to grant him autonomy to present beaded crowns and coronets to chiefs in the state.

The High Chiefs are Balogun of Ibadanland, Owolabi Olakulehin; Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rasheed Ladoja; Otun Balogun, Tajudeen Ajibola; Osi Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole; Osi Balogun, Lateef Adebimpe; Ashipa Olubadan, Biodun Kola-Daisi; Ashipa Balogun, Kola Adegbola; Ekerin Olubadan, Hamidu Ajibade; Ekerin Balogun, Olubunmi Isioye; Ekarun Olubadan; Bayo Akande and Ekarun Balogun, Abiodun Azeez.

Ladoja however rejected the elevation.
