INEC Presents Certificate Of Return To Benue Gov-Elect, Alia [Photos]

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented the Certificate of Return to the Benue State Governor-elect, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

Naija News reports that INEC National Commissioner for Voter Education and Publicity, Festus Okoye, presented the certificate to the governor-elect on Wednesday at the Commission’s head office in Markurdi, the state capital.

Following the development, supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stormed the streets of Markurdi to express happiness over the authentication of Alia’s victory.

Recall that the priest, who was suspended by the Catholic Church prior to the general elections, won the March 18 gubernatorial poll in the state.

Alia polled 473,933 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Titus Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 223,913 votes.
