Bauchi Commissioner Breaks Silence On Viral Vote-Buying Video

Bauchi state commissioner of Youths and Sports, Alhaji Adamu Manu Soro

Bauchi state Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Alhaji Adamu Manu Soro, has distanced himself from a viral video on social media depicting a politician dolling out money to electorates ahead of Saturday, March 18 governorship and the house of assembly elections.

Reports earlier claimed that a serving commissioner in Bauchi State allegedly a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was captured on camera engaging in vote buying in the build-up to Saturday’s polls.

The viral video clip seen by a Naija News correspondent showed some officers of the Nigeria Police Force suspected to be orderly to the said commissioner, were seen helping out in the condemnable act by the politician.

It was observed that the money being shared by the individual are the new naira notes which citizens are still lamenting its scarcity.

Reacting, however, during an interview with journalists in the Hausa language, the commissioner said he was sad to have been linked to the video clip.

Soro threatened to take legal action against the platform which associated him with the viral video.

He said, “My name is Honorable Adamu Manu Soro, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Bauchi state.

“This Twitter video clips going around globally, whoever knows Bauchi state, knows that Governor Bala Mohammed has performed creditably well in the past three and a half years in the execution of capital projects, hence it is naive for someone to allege vote buying for the ruling PDP in the state.

I’m not the one in the said video clips going around globally, so anyone or medium of communication that had published the story from the video clips does so to defaming my image and refutation in the good looking eyes of the public, and by God’s grace I’ll take a legal action against that.”
