The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has again attacked his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tonye Cole, over their conduct during the presidential and national assembly elections.

The governor alleged that Amaechi and Cole worked against the ambition of their party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Naija News gathered that Wike during a state broadcast on Thursday claimed that Amaechi and Cole worked against Tinubu because they were not in support of the power shift to the south.

Wike said, “Rotimi Amaechi and his protégé, Tonye Cole, actively opposed the demand for power shift to the South and worked against their party’s presidential candidate in Rivers State.

“When the President-Elect emerged as the winner, Tonye Cole rushed to congratulate him on his Instagram handle but deleted the post when he was criticised.

“Amaechi failed as Governor of Rivers State for eight years” and “could not attract any single development project to Rivers State as Minister for Transportation for seven years.”

The governor also made an allegation that plans were underway by Amaechi and the APC to disrupt the elections in Rivers State at Saturday’s governorship and state assembly polls.

He, however, noted that the security agencies had been notified while declaring today Friday as a holiday in the state to enable all private and public sector workers to travel to their communities in preparation for tomorrow’s polls.
