Rigging Claims: ‘We Will Not Allow Losers To Destroy Entire Edifice Of Democracy’ – Keyamo
The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, Festus Keyamo, has declared that rejection of results by losers in elections is not a new thing in politics.
This comes in the wake of the controversies surrounding the irregularities that marred the 2023 presidential election and rejection of the results by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party (LP) flagbearer, Peter Obi.
Naija News reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu, was declared the President-elect after scoring over 8 million votes in the election.
However, Peter Obi and Atiku have vowed to challenge Tinubu’s victory in court over claims of rigging and stolen mandate.
In a post via Twitter, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment said since 1960, there is no election that has not been disputed by the losers.
Keyamo noted that things have changed and the country would not allow losers to destroy the entire edifice of democracy because they lost.
He tweeted: “Since 1960, there hasn’t been a SINGLE election in Nigeria that has not been disputed by the losers.
“We’ve been down this road before, but we are wiser now: unlike before, the nation will no longer allow the losers to destroy the entire edifice of democracy just because they lost.”
