The PUNCH: The Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed governorship and state assemblies elections earlier scheduled for Saturday to March 18. The Guardian: With barely 48 hours to the conduct of the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections, the Court of Appeal, yesterday, refused to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from reconfiguring the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines

Vanguard: Due to its inability to commence the reconfiguration of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System, BVAS, machines on time, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has postponed the governorship and state assembly elections fixed for March 11 to March 18. The Court of Appeal, yesterday, gave the commission the nod to reconfigure the BVAS used for the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly polls in readiness for the state elections.

The Nation: The governorship and House of Assembly elections will not hold on Saturday. It has been shifted to March 18, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced last night. This followed yesterday’s rejection by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) of the request by Mr. Peter Obi and his Labour Party (LP) to restrain INEC from reconfiguring the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for the governorship poll in 28 states and Assembly election in 36 states of the federation.
