The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kogi State chapter, has elected Comrade Gabriel Amari to lead the state council.

Gabriel Amari replaces Comrade Onu Edoka, whose two stints in office expired on Monday. Amari will be in charge of the council for the next four years before he would stand for re-election if he deems it fit.

Before he emerged as NLC chairman in Kogi state, Comrade Amari was in charge of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Kogi chapter.

Other newly elected members of the NLC in Kogi are Comrades Ebenezer Adeyemi & Opaluwa Eleojo as Vice Chairmen, Comrades Salifu Joel as Treasurer, Comrades Omuya Momoh & Awodi Ochala as Adjutors, and Comrades Bolanle Inubiwon & Oyiza Sanni as Ex-Officio members.

On Tuesday in Lokoja during the NLC 8th Quadrennial State Delegates Conference, Comrade Roseline Uba, the NLC National Returning Officer, administered the oath of office to the new Kogi NLC executive members.

In his message to the newly elected executives, NLC President Ajaero urged the new Excos to outperform their predecessors. He also urged them to maintain a cordial relationship with the State Government.

While giving his votes of thanks, Amari thanked his delegates and the entire Kogi workforce for their immense support, saying, “with your support and cooperation, we will move Kogi workers to the next level.”

He added, “I assure you that we shall not disappoint you and the confidence you have reposed in us.

“We appreciate you for adopting us as the sole candidates for all the elective positions.

“I assure you that we will apply diplomacy, dialogue, and persuasion in getting the government to meet our demands.”
