Former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has disclosed the implication of referring to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu as a drug baron.

Naija News reports that the former lawmaker made this known in a Facebook post as he issues a warning over the derogatory name.

According to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, although there was nothing wrong with criticizing the President-elect, however, there are huge implications referring to him as a drug baron because such a tag will stigmatize Nigerian citizens from a foreign perspective.

He said: “There is nothing wrong with criticising Tinubu and questioning his election victory. But I must caution on the implication of continuously referring to him as a drug baron.

“As a President-elect of our country, such tag will now be stigmatized on you and me as citizens, especially from a foreign perspective or when we travel out of the country.

“Let’s allow that drug matter to rest, please. That matter has long been settled. Please pick him up on any other issues responsibly.”

G5 Support For Atiku Wouldn’t Have Counted

Meanwhile, Shehu Sani, has criticized the five aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), popularly known as the G5, for their actions before and during the just concluded 2023 presidential election.

Naija News reports that the G5, also known as the Integrity Group, includes Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

The Wike-led group vowed to work against PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and eventually did so. They had insisted that the PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, must resign his position and allow for a candidate of southern extraction as a precondition to support the former Vice President.

Their demands were, however, not attended to by the PDP main fold. Naija News understands that the G5 went for different candidates in the presidential election, and eventually, the ones who contested the National Assembly election lost woefully.

Reacting days after the February 25th election, Senator Sani said Wike and his team’s support for Atiku would not have counted for his victory as they could not help themselves in the general elections.
