2023 Election: PDP Wins All Senatorial Seats In Rivers State, Grabs 9 Out Of 12 Reps Seat

PDP Releases Timetable, Schedule Of Activities For 2024 Bye Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made a clean sweep of all the senatorial seats in Rivers State from the February 25 polls according to results announced on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The PDP also won 9 out of the 12 House of Representatives seats available in Rivers State.

The results of the February 25 elections were confirmed a week after by the INEC Public Affairs Officer, Geraldine Ekelemu, in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

A breakdown of the results shows Mpigi Barinada of the PDP won the Rivers South-East Senatorial District with 53,734 votes to defeat his closest rival in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ngofa Nyimenuate, who polled 24,123 votes.

The Rivers West Senatorial District was won by PDP’s Banigo Harry who scored 67,668 votes to beat APC’s Asita Asita who polled 32,572 votes.

Similarly, PDP’s Onyesoh Allwell clinched Rivers East Senatorial seat with 134,283 votes to floor LP’s Benjamin Okwuwolu who scored 74,725 votes.

For the House of Representatives constituencies, INEC released results of Okrika/Ogubuolo, Etche/Omuma, Ikwerre/Emohua, Ahoada West/Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru, Eleme/Tai/Oyibo, Abua-Odual/Ahoada East, Andoni-Opobo/Nkuru, Degema/Bonny, Obio/Akpor, and Port Harcourt 1, while the result of Port Harcourt 2 is suspended.

According to the released results, the PDP won all seats except the Okrika/Ogu Bolo seat which was won by the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Port Harcourt 1 federal constituency won by the Labour Party (LP).

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Johnson Alalibo, had earlier confirmed to newsmen that the results of Port Harcourt 2 federal constituency would be suspended and reviewed due to reports of irregularity.
