Naija News looks at the top happenings making headlines on the front pages of Nigeria’s national newspapers today Friday 3rd March 2023.

The PUNCH: The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, have refused to concede defeat in the February 25 presidential election, vowing to recover their mandate in court. The two candidates rebuffed the gesture of conciliation made by the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, who in his acceptance speech after he was declared the winner of the poll on Wednesday, asked them to support him in the task of building the nation

The Guardian: Just as the campaigns leading to February 25th presidential election were rancorous and fierce, the countdown to May 29 handover from President Muhammadu Buhari to President-elect Bola Tinubu could be equally exciting, as Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP), yesterday, rejected Tinubu’s olive branch, vowing to challenge his victory in court.

This Day: In what appears like a copy-cat replay of an ongoing suit over the move by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to ban the use of some denomination of old currencies, six states of the federation; Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Sokoto have dragged the federal government before the Supreme Court over the conduct, collation and announcement of the February 25, 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections.

The Nation: President-elect Bola Tinubu’s mandate is pan-Nigerian, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu said yesterday. He described the outcome of last Saturday’s presidential election as “the triumph of democracy”.
