The Labour Party has abandoned its governorship candidate in Adamawa, Alhaji Umaru Mustapha over an alleged anti-party behavior during Saturday’s presidential election.

This was confirmed by the chairman of the Labour Party, Adamawa state chapter, Mr. Christopher Nicolas, at a news conference in Yola on Thursday.

Nicolas claimed that Mustapha persuaded his supporters to endorse the APC in an address to newsmen before the presidential election.

The state’s voters, whom Nicolas praised for their support of LP’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, gave the party’s candidate a sizable majority of their votes, according to the party chairman.

He urged party members to be prepared with their PVCs and cast their votes for the party’s state assembly candidates on Match 11.

“On behalf of our President, National Chairman, we thanked our supporters for the votes given to us, we appreciate you all”, the LP’s state chairman said.

“We equally encourage you to vote for candidates contesting for state assembly under our great party.

“While for Governorship we are working on it because he came out publicly and denounced our boss, and called his supporters to vote for APC which is an offense for us.”

On the other hand, the ObiDatti Presidential Campaign Committee’s North-East Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Joseph Maigari, has accused INEC of failing to hold a legitimate presidential election on February 25.

He asserted that the recently concluded presidential election was invalid, but he asked party supporters to remain calm as the party’s leaders seek redress through the court.

“Most of the votes for LP were counted for other political parties, especially in Adamawa which we are not happy and we have the evidence to present,” he said.
