Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25th election, Peter Obi, said on Thursday that he would meet the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the court in the next few days to reclaim his mandate.

Obi said this during a press conference today, days after APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, was declared the winner of the just concluded election.

However, the Labour Party presidential candidate argued on Thursday that he won the election, and he and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, will press further to the court as demanded by the APC.

“They have asked me to go to court, and I want to go to court. Remember, I am Obidient,” Obi said.

He insisted that he is challenging the process that was truly wrong and is not under pressure to do so as speculated in some quarters.

Obi, however, dismissed reports in some quarters about an alliance with his opposition after losing to Tinubu.

He declared that they had passed that stage already, and they are now fighting to reclaim a mandate that was ‘stolen’.

The Labour Party candidate expressed worries that decades after decades Nigeria still could not conduct a free, credible and transparent election.
