The son of the former Governor of Oyo State, Olamijuwonlo Akala, has been declared winner of the Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire Federal Constituency at the just concluded National Assembly elections.

Akala, who is the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, was declared the winner by the returning officer for Ogbomoso Federal Constituency, Prof. Hakeem Salami, on Sunday.

The former Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government polled 33,268 votes to defeat his opponent, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Olufemi Onireti, who polled 27,126 votes.

In his reaction, shortly after he was declared winner, Akala said, “I’m so excited, I will not disappoint the people of Ogbomoso and my constituents who voted for me, I’m so grateful to them all.”

Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adegboyega Adefarati, has been declared the winner of the House of Representatives election for Akoko South West and Akoko South East federal constituency in Ondo state.

INEC’s returning officer for the National Assembly election in Ondo state, Professor Ibukun Emmanuel, made this known on Sunday.

Adefarati, who is also the son of the former governor of the state, the late Adebayo Adefarati, polled 25,872 votes to beat his closest rival in the election exercise, Gbenga Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kolawole scored 18,403 votes.

Emmanuel also revealed that a total of 50,940 voters were accredited for the election.
