PDP Crisis: Ayu Speaks On Working Against Ortom's Senatorial Ambition

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu, has promised not to work against the senatorial ambition of the Benue State State Governor, Samuel Ortom.

Naija News reports Ortom is the PDP candidate for the Benue North-West senatorial district in the 2023 elections but is working against the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The Benue Governor is part of the aggrieved G5 Governors popularly called the G5 Governors who have refused to work for the PDP flagbearer over claims of lopsided appointments into top positions in the party.

They insisted on Ayu’s resignation as the PDP chairman as the only condition to support Atiku’s ambition.

However, with all parties unable to resolve their differences, Ortom publicly announced he would be supporting the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi in Saturday’s election.

Speaking to journalists against the backdrop of the happenings in the PDP, Ayu however said he won’t be working against Ortom in his bid to go to the National Assembly.

The PDP chairman, while briefing journalists at his Makurdi residence on Thursday, explained that he would not work against Ortom “because he is a candidate of the party.”

He also urged Nigerians to vote for his party’s presidential candidate, Atiku so as to change the fortunes of the country which has been battling issues of escalating insecurity, poverty, and economic failures in the last eight years.
