Tinubu Behind Reports That I Want To Dump PDP - Atiku

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu has again been slammed for his ‘Emilokan’ slogan.

Naija News reports that the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, took to the micro-blogging platform, Twitter to condemn the ‘Emilokan’ slogan of Tinubu, saying only God has power and He gives it to whom he chooses.

Dogara described his ‘Emilokan’ slogan as blasphemy, noting that the most generous people are those who give silently without hope of praise or reward and not those who do things for others and expect payback.

Naija News reports that the ‘Emilokan’ slogan means ‘it is my turn’ and it was used by the APC flag bearer in one of his campaign outings to mean it is his turn to be Nigeria’s president.

The slogan has continued to stir controversies in the political spaces as many actors have translated it to mean Tinubu’s desperate to be president.

However, the former speaker in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle, @YakubDogara asserted that “Doing things for others and demanding they pay you back amounts to doing the right things for the wrong reasons.

“As we go to the polls remember we can not put a set of people, half addicted to rage and the other half addicted to delirium, into leadership and still hope that we can rise above the contradictions which define their very nature; for they will only reproduce themselves.

“Note also that democracy anywhere does not give permission to its citizens to be their worst selves. A people who knowingly suborn the gormless into leadership positions have wittingly or unwittingly resolved never to rise.”

Dogara, however, made a case for the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, saying he admits he is not perfect but he is the best man for the job.

The former speaker, who observed that nations are built by imperfect men and women, noted that “Of course, I am aware Atiku is not perfect but throughout history, the task of building nations has always fallen on the shoulders of imperfect men and women. My only point is that the best of us must not be led by the worst of us. Atiku remains the best.”
