APC Drags Three Lawmakers To Court Over Defection To PDP

The Zamfara State Commissioner for Budget, Alhaji Aliyu Mafara, has resigned his position and dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Naija News reports that Mafara who announced his new membership with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gusau, the state capital, on Friday, said his conscience would not allow him to stick to failure.

It was however learned that in a brief ceremony at the residence of the Zamfara PDP governorship candidate in Gusau, the former commissioner declared his full support for Dauda Lawal-Dare.

The former APC chieftain claims his defection to the PDP was doing his people good because he is convinced that Lawal-Dare if elected as governor would work for the people.

Mafara at the event submitted that “I informed the state government, former Governor Abdulaziz Yari, and all my supporters prior to my defection from the APC to the PDP.

“I am doing this for the people, and it is my conviction that Dr Dauda Lawal if given the opportunity at the forthcoming election to govern Zamfara State, would tackle the problem of security, boost agricultural production, and create good markets for farm produce.”

It was gathered that also speaking at the occasion was the Zamfara PDP governorship candidate, Lawal-Dare, who declared Zamfara as a fully PDP state.

Lawal-Dare was optimistic that the party will have a resounding victory in the forthcoming elections.

Mafara’s defection as learned by Naija News comes barely 48 hours after over 40 special advisers dumped the governor’s APC to join the PDP.
