PDP Ex-Spokesman, Dukku Joins NNPP In Gombe

The Gombe State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has received the membership of a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Murtala Usman Dukku.

Naija News understands that Dukku was the PDP’s immediate former Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the state before he was suspended over alleged anti-party activities.

Shortly after the development, he withdrew his membership from the PDP camp and, yesterday, declared his allegiance to the opposition NNPP ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Dukku had formerly confirmed his resignation from the PDP in a letter he reportedly addressed to the party leadership.

Not long ago, PDP zonal chairman in Gombe Central, Engr Musa Gwani Bimason, and assistant state treasurer of the party, Muhammad Yusuf Pindiga, dumped the party to join Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s Kwankwasiyya movement.

Also, three members of the state assembly, Rambi Ibrahim Ayala (Billiri East), Hamza Adamu (Balanga South) and Bappah Usman Jurara (Funakaye South), had defected to the NNPP from PDP and APC, respectively, Naija News understands.

According to Daily Trust, the PDP women leaders in Gombe and Dukku Local Government Area (LGAs), Maryam Muhammad Audi and Asabe Saleh have also dumped the PDP for the NNPP.

2023: Bala Mohammed Dumps G-5 Govs For Atiku

Meanwhile, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has distanced himself from the five aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), identified as the G-5.

Mohammed on Thursday denied planning to work against the presidential candidate of the main opposition party, Atiku Abubakar.

The statement of the Bauchi State Governor ends his purported alliance with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his allies, Naija News reports.

The G-5 governors have vowed to work against Atiku in the 2023 presidential election over the refusal of the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign from office.

The aggrieved governors had condemned northern dominance in key positions in the party, hence their call for Ayu to resign.

However, Mohammed declared his support for Atiku during the flag-off of his gubernatorial campaign in Gamawa Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.

While addressing supporters of the party in Gamawa, the PDP Governor appealed to them to support Atiku in 2023.

Mohammed stated that Atiku was the only candidate to restore Nigeria’s lost glory if elected as President.

He further stated that Nigeria needs a personality with an all-encompassing knowledge of the country.
