Atiku To Return To Nigeria Thursday After Meeting With UK Officials

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is scheduled to return to the country today (Thursday) after being away for nearly two weeks.

Naija News reports that Atiku, took a vacation in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates to spend time with his family since January 1st, 2023 before traveling to the United Kingdom for strategic meetings ahead of the February 28 presidential election.

According to Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, the former Vice President would return to Nigeria for the continuation of his campaign rallies, billed for Lokoja, the Kogi state capital on Saturday.

The PDP flagbearer had arrived in London on Monday, January 9 for a planned meeting with the officials of the British government on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Atiku, however, met with the Minister for Development and Africa in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Andrew Mitchell and Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, James Cleverly.

The former Vice President also met with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, on Wednesday.

The former vice president was accompanied on the visit by Governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State; former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau; embattled PDP chieftain, Raymond Dokpesi; and House Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu.

Others are the Director of Public Affairs of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Senator Dino Melaye; former presidential aspirant, Isa Hayatudeen; former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri, and Timi Frank, among others.
