2023 Elections: PDP Begins Negotiations With 11 Parties To Boost Atiku’s Chances

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has begun negotiations with eleven smaller parties to boost the chances of its flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar in the February 25 presidential election.

Naija News reports that the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, made this known on Wednesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Abdullahi claimed that the eleven parties approached the PDP for a working alliance. He also asked others and more groups to come on board and work with the major opposition party.

Speaking in an interview with The Punch, Abdullahi said: “There are a good number of them, but it will not be wise to publicly list them out. At the last time I checked, we were in talks with over 11 of them.

“They approached us to express their willingness to partner with us towards ensuring credible elections in 2023. That is the way they put it, but you and I know what that means.

“These are parties with candidates who are not strong enough. I can confirm to you that there is a working arrangement, and we want to see more of such parties or groups. Together, we will salvage this country.

“They know the strength of the PDP and the pedigree of its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.”

This development came 24 hours after the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said it is in talks with other smaller parties in a move to have a national spread and win the 2023 presidential election.
