G5: Moment Crowd Started Shouting Atiku During Wike's Speech In Ibadan

The aggrieved Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) popularly called the G5 got a bit of a shocker from party supporters in Ibadan, Oyo State during their campaign rally in Oyo State on Thursday.

The G5 Governors are Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), Samuel Ortom (Benue State), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State).

The G5 Governors as earlier reported by Naija News were in Oyo State for the flag-off of the campaign of their member, Seyi Makinde who is seeking re-election as the state governor.

During the rally, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state while addressing the crowd, told them to vote for Makinde and other PDP candidates in the forthcoming election but for the presidency, he said the Governor would address the crowd.

He said: “Vote for Seyi, vote for the Senator, vote for the House of Reps, vote for the House of Assembly. For the other one (presidency), Seyi would talk to you.”

However as he was speaking and failed to mention the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar as part of those the crowd should vote for, they started shouting Atiku until he handed over the microphone.

Naija News recalls the G5 Governors took a stand against supporting the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

They insisted on the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu from office and his replacement with a southerner as the only condition to support Atiku’s 2023 bid.

However, despite several meetings and entreaties on how to resolve the disagreement, Ayu has refused to step down and the Governors have also not changed their position.

Information gathered by this platform has it that the Governors might have totally ruled out any chances of supporting the PDP and Atiku.

A source added that the G5 Governors are set to choose between the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu, or the Labour Party (LP) flagbearer, Peter Obi.
