G5: Presidential Candidate Wike, Ikpeazu Are Working For Revealed

The aggrieved Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) popularly called G5 are not in disagreement over who to support for the 2023 presidential election.

This position was made known by an ally of Governor Nyesom Wike, Ogbonna Nwuke who insisted that the Governors would soon unveil their preferred candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

He stated this while reacting to claims that there are cracks within the G5 over the choice of the presidential candidate to endorse.

It would be recalled that the G5 Governors (Nyesom Wike – Rivers State, Seyi Makinde – Oyo State, Samuel Ortom –  Benue State, Okezie Ikpeazu – Abia State, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi – Enugu State) have insisted that except Iyorchia Ayu resigns as the PDP National Chairman, they won’t support the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Some recent reports said they had foreclosed any chances of reconciliation and supporting Atiku and have narrowed down their choice to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu, or the Labour Party (LP) flagbearer, Peter Obi but are undecided on their final choice between the two.

Reacting, Nwuke who is the spokesman of the Consolidation for New Rivers Vision Campaign Council, in a chat with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt said the Governors are united in purpose and would soon make their stand public.

He spoke against the background of Governor Ortom’s endorsement of Peter Obi.

The former member of the House of Representatives said: “The development is clear evidence that there is freedom of expression among the G5 governors.”
