FG Gives Police Stations, Barracks Across Nigeria A Face Lift

The Federal Government of Nigeria has started renovating police stations and barracks across the country.

Muhammad Dingyadi, the Minister of Police Affairs, disclosed this in Abuja during the “PMB Administration Scorecard Series (2015-2023)” held by the Ministry of Information on Friday, December 23, 2022.

The installation of intelligence technology at Force headquarters, Zone 1 and 2 headquarters, and other locations has received government approval.

In the same vein, the police have built hospitals and health facilities, rebuilt the Enugu Detective College, and established the Cyber Crime Control Center. The FCT Command has also been given a face lift.

Stations and barracks in Kebbi, Edo, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi, Plateau, Abia, Bayelsa, Nasarawa, Niger, Sokoto, Ogun, Lagos, and FCT have been renovated or are undergoing repairs; the total cost is N5 billion.

To stem the flood of crimes and criminalities in Nigeria, the minister underlined the deployment of operational, intelligence, and ICT-based technology across the country.

Dingyadi praised the expansion of the Special Tactical Squad and the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) (FIB-STS).

“NPF Rescue Me, an application for responding to emergencies, the NPF Crime and Incident Database Center, and the Interpol Cybercrime Reporting portal at incb.npf.gov.ng are all accessible 24/7 for the reporting of complaints linked to cybercrime,” the minister added.
