Court Affirms Sani Abacha As Kano PDP Gov Candidate

Mohammad Sani Abacha has been affirmed as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard gubernatorial candidate in Kano State.

On Thursday, December 22, a Federal High Court sitting in Kano, presided by Justice A.M Liman, nullified the party’s primary election that produced Sadik Aminu Wali as Kano PDP governorship candidate and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to expunge his name for Sani Abacha.

Naija News understands that the judgment, which was virtually-delivered, was earlier scheduled for 12:00 noon on Thursday but was later deferred to 4.00 pm.

The court granted all the prayers of the plaintiff in the suit.

Meanwhile, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday affirmed the candidates produced by the Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje leadership as the authentic flagbearers for the Action Alliance party.

The court in its ruling rejected an application to aside an earlier ruling which recognizes Omo-Aje’s leadership.

The Federal High Court on the 4th of November had directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize the candidates submitted for 2023 elections by the Omo-Aje leadership

The court also rejected the candidates produced by Kenneth Udeze, among whom is Hamzat Al-Mustapha.

Justice Zainab Abubakar, in a ruling on Thursday, ruled that the application filed by Udeze was unmeritorious and proceeded to dismiss it.

Udeze had applied to the Federal High Court, Abuja, to set aside the November 4, 2022 judgment. He had stated that the judgement was obtained by fraud and that he was still the party’s National Chairman.

Justice Abubakar in her ruling on Thursday noted that with the two subsisting judgments of the Court of Appeal and another decision by a Federal High Court in Abeokuta, Udeze could not lawfully lay claim to being the Chairman of the party.
