Qatar 2022 Will Be My Last World Cup - Messi Confirms

Superstar player and Argentina captain, Lionel Messi has confirmed he has no intention of featuring in another World Cup tournament after the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

The PSG striker stated that his last world cup game will be the Argentina game against France in the finals of the Qatar tournament.

Naija News reports Messi will learn his 172nd cap for Argentina when his country files out against France on Sunday for the Qatar 2022 World Cup final.

En route to the finals, Argentina eliminated Croatia while France overcame hard-fighting Morocco in the semi-final pairings.

Speaking about his plans, Messi told Argentine media outlet Diario Deportivo Ole; “I feel very happy to be able to achieve this, to finish my World Cup journey by playing my last game in a final.”

Nathaniel Bassey Prays For Messi

Nigerian gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey, has taken to social media to pray that Argentina wins the 2022 FIFA World Cup title in Qatar.

Naija News understands that the renowned musician is a huge fan of Paris Saint-Germain striker Lionel Messi.

Taking to his Twitter handle shortly after Argentina defeated Croatia in their semi-final clash on Tuesday, Bassey, who was responding to critics on social media, queried that so because he is seen as a man of God, he cannot watch football or show support for his favourite?

Bassey’s tweet reads: “Father, Please give Him the World Cup and silence His mockers.

“So because I want my favourite player to win the World Cup, I don’t pray for Nigeria Abi? Schm. Is it today you found out I’m a huge Messi fan. So being a man of God means I can’t watch football as one of my hobbies?”
