Lagos: Pandemonium As Electric Pole With Live Wire Falls On Moving Vehicles

An electric pole with a live wire belonging to Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has reportedly fallen on moving vehicles at the junction linking Ola Ayinde street with Mobolaji Bank Way, close to the Headquarters of Federal Operations Unit(FOU), Zone ‘A’, of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), Ikeja, Lagos State 

The incident which recorded no loss of lives reportedly occurred around 2 p.m on Wednesday.

According to Daily Independent, the incident resulted in heavy traffic gridlock in that axis, forcing vehicles trying to link up with Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, through Toyin Street, Opepi and Allen Avenue axis via Ola Ayinde Street to take alternative streets of Kolawole Odunsi Street to Unity Road, before they could link up with Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way.

Vehicles from Maryland axis trying to link Toyin Street had to divert to Unity Road as the fallen pole with electric cables blocked the entrance of Ola Ayinde Street through Bank Anthony Way.

When the aforementioned publication visited the scene, the pole was seen atop a Toyota Corolla car with Reg. No LSR 897 EV, while the cables were seen on a red Toyota Camry car with Registration No. GGE 435 HK which was partially burnt by the naked wire.

Also, one Mercedes Benz jeep with Registration No. FST 996HB was slightly touched by fire from the cables was seen.
