Fresh information has emerged that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, is currently in a meeting with Police Commissioners and heads of police formations over the issues of security ahead of the 2023 general election.

Naija News reports that the meeting being held in Abuja at the Force Headquarters is to strategise on the situation of security in the country as the election inches close.

In attendance at the ongoing security meeting are CPs, Assistant Inspectors General of Police, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, and other top-ranked police officers.

It was gathered apart from strategising for the general election, the meeting would also focus on how to improve the security on the security architecture of the country, in other to curb criminals and their criminal activities.

Meanwhile, Naija News reported earlier that the IGP in its quest to ensure a digital environment for policing in Nigeria has launched a digital platform for Nigerians to report the incidence of car theft.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed that the move by the IGP was a preventive measure to tackle vehicle theft in the country.

Adejobi in a statement said the digitalized platform called the Central Motor Registry (CMR), which was completed and commissioned by the IGP, is situated at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, the platform launch followed the “IGP’s quest to ensure a digital environment for policing the country for robust and more proactive measures in crime prevention, investigation, and prosecution.”

He revealed that starting from 7th December 2022, Nigerians and other residents in the country can upload their vehicle information on the website https://reportcmr.npf.gov.ng
