Messi: Mbappe Names GOAT After Ronaldo, Portugal's Exit From 2022 World Cup

French professional football player, Kylian Mbappe, has named Portugal’s star, Cristiano Ronaldo as the Greatest of All-Time (GOAT).

Naija News reports that Mbappe currently plays as a forward alongside Ronaldo’s historic rival, Lionel Messi at Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

However, despite Messi being his teammate, the 23-year-old player maintained his idolization of the Portugal national team captain who recently parted ways with Manchester United in search of a new club.

Mbappe was reacting to Ronaldo’s heartfelt message after Portugal’s elimination against Morocco in the quarter-finals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup when he declared the 37-year-old as the greatest of all time.

“I fought for it. I fought hard for this dream,” Ronaldo had posted on social media after Portugal were ousted from the world football competition.

Naija News recalls that after the final whistle, the Portuguese captain headed alone to the changing rooms, and in the tunnel, he could not help but burst into tears as the cameras followed him.

Shortly after, Ronaldo also took to his social media pages to send a message that ended up going around the world and one that several sporting legends reacted to, not least Pele, LeBron James, and Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe has never hidden his admiration for Ronaldo. It is said that as a child, he had his room draped with posters of the Portuguese footballer.

The Frenchman, however, responded to Ronaldo’s post with three emojis to pay tribute to his idol: that of a crown, that of hands giving thanks, and that of a goat, referring to the fact that he is the GOAT, which in English means the ‘greatest of all time’.
