Man Caught Stealing, Weeks After Being Rescued From Jungle Justice

A 25-year-old man, identified as Chinedu Ike, has been arrested by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command.

Naija News reports that Chinedu was arrested weeks after he was rescued from jungle justice by a patrol team.

A statement by the RRS disclosed that the suspect was intercepted by a mob in the Iyana Oworo area of the state after stealing a phone in September 2022.

Chinedu was beaten to a coma before he was rushed to the hospital by the police and discharged after some days.

However, the 25-year-old boy, on Monday, November 28, 2022, sneaked into a car and stole the driver’s phone at Iyana Owo, unfortunately, those who knew him hinted the driver.

The RRS officers recovered the driver’s phone in Chinedu’s bag and he was arrested.

The statement read: “Chinedu Ike, 25, was rescued from jungle justice by @rrslagos767 Patrol team sometime in September, 2022 in Iyana Oworo over the theft of a mobile phone.

“He was beaten to a coma by eyewitnesses before he was rushed to the hospital by the team. He was discharged after some days.

“On Monday, adopting his usual style, he sneaked into a parked car to steal the driver’s mobile phone in Iyana Oworo. He was arrested by @rrslagos767 officers when those who knew Chinedu hinted the driver to check his phone. Our officers recovered the driver’s Infinix Note 10 from Chinedu’s bag. He has been sentenced .”
