Bandits Abduct Taraba Varsity Students

Armed bandits reportedly invaded Kanwa, a community in the Zurmi Local government Area of Zamfara State, last Thursday and abducted no fewer than forty-four people.

Naija News learned that the community has been under siege by terrorists, causing the residents to live in fear daily.

A resident who spoke with Daily Post about the incident said the bandits, during the attack, moved from house to house, abducting their victims.

The source further disclosed that a notorious bandit leader, Dankarami, was suspected of leading the latest mass abduction in the community.

He further explained that Dankarami has been terrorizing residents of the Zurmi – Birnin Magaji – Jibia axis in Zamfara and neighbouring Katsina states, saying that his activities have caused serious setbacks in all spheres of life to the people.

Residents, according to him, have been worried over the mass abduction as the bandits were yet to call relatives of the victims to demand ransom.

The State Police Command, however, is yet to release an official statement on the development, Naija News understands.

Man Sets Wife On Fire In Obasanjo’s Village For Refusing To Serve Him Breakfast

The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force confirmed yesterday that it apprehended one Hassan Azeez, popularly known as Saudi, for allegedly setting his wife ablaze in the wee hours of Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Naija News reports that the incident occurred in Ibogun Olaogun, Abeokuta which coincidentally happens to be the hometown of a former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Sources told The Nation that the suspect accused his wife, Olayinka of delaying his breakfast in the early hours of the morning.

The wife had told him that she would serve him food after she was done with her morning chores.

However, this did not sit well with the accused who was said to have gotten into a heated squabble with his wife during which he allegedly poured petrol on her and set her ablaze.

The incident caused pandemonium in the community as Azeez allegedly warned residents against any attempt to intervene in the matter.

“A male passer-by, who was touched by the woman’s plight, had one of his legs burnt while he was trying to save the woman,” a source said.

The mother of one was eventually rescued by some residents who asked her husband to take her to the hospital for medical care.

Azeez instead hired a nurse to take care of Olayinka at home. Her condition deteriorated, and residents contacted her father, Pa Akintade, who lives in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Olayinka has since been moved to a hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State, where doctors are battling to save her life.

Azeez was said to have fled after the matter was reported to Ibogun Police Division.

The victim’s father stated that the doctors attending to his daughter demanded a sum of N1.5 million for urgent surgery.
