Fresh information has emerged that three people have lost their lives at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Naija News reports that the side of the stadium which is under construction collapsed, which reportedly killed three persons.

The construction at the stadium is ahead of the National Sports Festival scheduled to hold at the stadium.

Reports indicate that the cause of the collapse is unknown yet, but speculations are that it could be due to the rush of the construction to meet the deadline for delivery for use at the sports festival.

The Minister of Sports and Youths Development, Sunday Dare, was reported to have inspected the structure recently.

Meanwhile, Naija News reported earlier that Costa Rica, in preparation for the World Cup, trounced the Super Eagles of Nigeria 2 goals to nil in San Jose.

Oscar Duarte and Kendall Waston scored goals in each half to give Costa Rica the victory.

Former Arsenal striker, Joel Campbell, provided the assists for both goals.
Only players from the Super Eagles’ home country were on display for the friendly match, which was held at the Estadio Nacional.

Duarte’s goal in the seventh minute gave Costa Rica the lead, giving them a solid start.

And Waston increased their advantage in the 73rd minute to help his side go back to winning ways following their last match, which was also a friendly against South Korea in September and finished 2-2.

While the Super Eagles have now lost three games in a row, they hope to get back to winning ways in their next match against Portugal, who will also compete in this year’s World Cup.

The contest with the Portuguese is scheduled for Thursday, November 17, at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
