Mane Breaks Silence After World Cup Miss

Senegal international, Sadio Mane will not play in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup due to an injury sustained on Tuesday at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Naija News reports that the game between Bayern and Werder Bremen, which the Bundesliga champions won 6-1, was over for the Senegalese after only 20 minutes

After the game, former Liverpool attacker raised serious concerns about his readiness for Qatar less than two weeks before the tournament gets underway.

The forward won’t participate in the global tournament, handing the defending Africa Cup of Nations winners a severe setback.

While first stating that the player had suffered a hit to the tibia and that he was optimistic it was a “not a significant injury,” Julian Nagelsmann later said that the player will have an X-ray to ascertain the severity of the injury.

“He took a knock to the head of his tibia,” he said.

‘It’s always uncomfortable. He has to have an X-ray. I hope nothing is wrong.

“I didn’t see him after the game, I hope it’s not a big injury. But I don’t know at the moment,” he continued.

“We’ll see tomorrow and then give an update.” he added.

In 13 days, Senegal’s World Cup campaign will get underway against The Netherlands without the striker who has proven his worth so far as the best African player in the European league.
