Atiku: "Look At The Insult" - Another Northerner Shouldn't Take Over From Buhari - Wike Declares

A member of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday disclosed that the focus of the party has shifted from reconciliation.

According to the PCC member, the main opposition party has fixed its gaze on the campaign ahead of the 2023 general election.

The party has been battling with differences between the five aggrieved PDP governors known as G-5, the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The aggrieved Governors l have insisted on the resignation of the party’s chairman.

The PCC member who spoke with Vanguard on condition of anonymity said Atiku’s camp is no longer focusing on reconciliation.

He further stated that Wike and his allies’ move to influence votes against Atiku in their respective states will fail because “Atiku’s rallies have been widely accepted. The campaign is going on smoothly; so far so good, there is wide acceptance of Atiku everywhere he has gone to the campaign.

“Wike and his allies have a right to talk and they have a right to support whoever they deem fit but equating themselves as one individual being the totality of votes from their states is an irresponsible statement to make. In Oyo State for instance, can a Makinde say people should not vote for Atiku?”

The PCC member added that it is irresponsible for the Governors to say they will determine how people in their state will vote.

He said the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde is neither Obafemi Awolowo nor Bola Ige, adding that he is just one politician who is struggling to survive in his local politics.

The source said Makinde does not have the authority to determine how the people of Oyo State will vote.

The PCC member, however, stated that the campaign train of PDP will stop if any of the aggrieved members is willing to join.
